Winter-like levels of overcrowding are being reported by nurses at the region’s main hospital today.
63 people have been left waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick, according to the latest figures from the INMO, a figure usually only seen during the winter period.
33 patients were on trolleys in the Emergency Department alone, with the remainder being accommodated in overflow areas of wards.

The overall figure is more than double the second busiest hospital in Ireland, and comes on a day when 344 patients have been left waiting on trolleys at hospitals across the country.
