It’s feared County Clare’s response to another flooding crisis or big freeze could be hampered by a reduction in staff numbers.
Clare County Council has heard concerns that staffing levels at the local authority have been reduced from 1002 in June of 2006 to 872 in June of this year.
It’s due to public sector cutbacks and recruitment embargoes, and has prompted calls to ensure that adequate resources are in place in the event of another extreme weather event.
