An inspection of a mental health unit for the elderly in Ennis has found there was no access there to a crash cart or emergency trolley.
The unannounced inspection of Cappahard Lodge was carried out by the Mental Health Commission, who have outlined the lack of an automated external defibrillator even though some patients are at risk of cardiac arrest.

The report also outlines how, in the event of an overnight emergency, patients would have to be transferred to University Hospital Limerick, which is 40km away.
Otherwise, the report into Cappahard was generally positive and an emergency trolley has since been installed there.
