The result of today’s ballot follows talks at the Labour Relations Commission last Friday after cabin crew voted against accepting the airlines 97 million Euro Greenfield plan.

However after their rejection a  fortnight ago Aer Lingus  announced that it intended to terminate the employment of all 1,200 cabin crew and rehire most of them on inferior pay and conditions.

All the other unions had voted to accept the cost cutting measures.

Last Friday, IMPACT, which represents the workers, said it would put the proposals to its members again following what it called "deeper clarification" of the cost-cutting plans in talks at the labour Relations Commission.

A ballot of the staff at Shannon Cork and Dublin then got underway earlier this week and the results are expected to be known later today ..

Aer Lingus has said it notes the decision to re-ballot and will await today’s result before making any comment.
