Riot Predicted if Budget Doesn’t Include Income Tax Cut

A leading University of Limerick Economist says there could be a riot of Michael Noonan doesn't reduce income tax in next week's budget. 

While with just six days to go to Budget 2015 the ESRI says the economy will grow at a faster rate than Germany's next year.

The ESRI says  GNP growth  for the rest of 2014 and 2015 – will stand at of five per cent  – compared to a rate of 1 per cent in Europe's largest economy.

Its latest quarterly outlook says unemployment should also drop to 9-point-6 percent by the end of next year.

The Think Tank's David Duffy says our export links with Britain and the US are giving us the edge over the rest of the Eurozone.

Meanwhile A leading University of Limerick Economist says there could be a riot of Michael Noonan doesn't reduce income tax in next week's budget. 

The Taoiseach yesterday indicated that the 52 percent rate will be lowered when Budget 2015 is announced next week.

Enda Kenny believes the reduction will help to create another 15 thousand jobs over four years.

Speaking ahead of a European Commission event in Ennis tonight Senior Lecturer in Economics, University of Limerick Stephen Kinsella says it's highly likely there will be a cut in income tax.

While Sinn Féin says it would abolish the property tax AND water charges in next week's Budget.

It's published an alternative Budget where it instead wants to levy higher income taxes on people earning over 100,000 euro a year.

It's the first opposition party to publish its alternative Budget, with the government's own plans being revealed next Tuesday.

Finance Spokesman Pearse Doherty says the measures are fully costed – and prove that the government CAN avoid water charges if it wants.
