Ongoing reductions in road funding for Clare have come in for criticism as the clean up operation continues following the worst cold snap in recent memory.
With a bill of over €11m facing Clare County Council following weather related road damage, just €8m of department funds is open to the council’s discretion regarding where it can be most effectively spent.
It’s part of a total allocation of €15.6m from the Department of Transport which represents a cut of 3% on last year.

Kilrush Fine Gael Councillor Gabriel Keating says the ongoing cuts are questionable, when there’s an obvious need for local road repairs.
