Royal honour for Banner artist

A Clare-based artised to to be given the unusual honour of having two of his paintings included in the Royal Collection.

Lahinch resident Michael Hanrahan has been invited to Buckingham Palace to deliver his painting of 'The horse drawn carriage at Windsor', which he created during President Higgins' state visit to the UK in April.

The scene depicts the Australian State carriage as it made its way to Windsor Castle carrying The Queen and The President.

One of Michael's paintings, which he created during the Queen's visit to ireland in 2011 is already part of the Royal collection, and he is the only living Irish artist to have his work in Queen Elizabeth's collection.
