Ryanair Says Reopening Of Shannon Base Provides Opportunity For Further Growth

The CEO of Ryanair says re-opening their Shannon Airport base next year provides an opportunity for the airline to further grow its platform in the Midwest.

The airline will base one aircraft at the region’s airport next year, while operating 32 weekly flights to 14 destinations in Portugal, Spain, the UK, Lithuania and Poland.

Shannon Group has called the move ‘an early Christmas present’ for the airport, saying it will help them rebuild as a COVID-19 vaccine is rolled out in 2021.

Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson believes the news may see Shannon growing an advantage over Cork – whose base has yet to reopen – in the coming months.
