Ryanair to cut Shannon Flights

Shannon Airport has been dealt a further blow with news that Ryanair is to cut two of it’s routes from the MidWest.

The airline has confirmed to Clare FM that as part of it’s upcoming winter schedule, services to Liverpool and Gran Canaria will be cut, with weekly flight frequencies at the MidWest Airport being reduced by 4.

Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara has told Clare FM that the move is being made ‘due to high costs at Shannon’, and that it will ‘move services to other lower cost airports.’

Shannon Councillor Sean McLoughlin has expressed his disappointment, but feels Ryanair will still have to be an important customer for the Airport.
