The Chairman of the Shannon Airport Authority says discussions with Lynx to develop cargo in the Mid West are at an advanced stage but wouldn’t commit to a definite date.
Outlining the SAA’s five year strategy to grow and develop the airport Brian O Connell says passenger numbers are targeted to increase to 2.5 million by 2015 and cargo traffic will be a key focus for growth as a core business.
The plan also aims to secure more sustainable passenger airline services, reducing costs and achieving a greater return from assets -such as land banks around Shannon Airport.
Its been repeatedly claimed that the Mid West Airport can’t follow through on a viable plan unless it achieves autonomy from the DAA – but Brian O Connell says this isn’t a priority for them now
