Safe Recovery Of Windsurfer Was A “Miracle”

The recovery of a windsurfer, who was missing for seven hours off the west coast has been described as a “miracle” by Kilrush RNLI.

A multi-agency operation got underway yesterday evening, after the windsurfer didn’t return to shore at Ballybunion.

Fenit RNLI were tasked to the scene at around 5pm and they were assisted by the Kilrush RNLI, the Shannon-based Coastguard helicopter – Rescue 115 and Naval vessell the LÉ Niamh.

The man made it ashore in Kilkee, just after 11 o’clock last night and raised the alarm, after which he was trasfered by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
