Safety Concerns Raised Over M18 Junctions

Calls are being made for an urgent safety review of junctions off of the M18 motorway.

Former Mayor of Clare Councillor Pat Hayes, who has previously raised other concerns with the route, now wants Transport Infrastructure Ireland to examine some of the junctions – including those for Tulla, Crusheen and Barefield – as he thinks they’re too tight.

The Fianna Fáil East Clare representative says he’s had a number of people say to him that they feel the exits are dangerous both coming off and going onto the motorway.

He wants the matter addressed as a priority.

This lunchtime, Transport Infrastructure Ireland has told Clare FM it will respond formally to the Council once it receives their correspondence

They also insist the M18 was designed to existing motorway standards.
