Schools in Clare are being warned not to keep cash on the premises.
With students having started back to school in recent weeks, teachers may be collecting fees from students or parents for various reasons.
With that in mind, Clare's Crime Prevention Officer is advising those responsible for the security of the school to control access to the grounds and to store valuables in a secure area.
Sergeant Joe Downey says a number of other steps can be taken to prevent thieves from taking school fund.
