Clare residents who feel overwhelmed or isolated during the festive period are being reminded that supports are available.
Samaritans Ireland says it’s recorded an 18 per cent increase in the use of its email, text and face-to-face services in the past year, and the organisation’s Clare branch says volunteers will be on hand over the coming days during what is one of their busiest times of the year.
Spokesman Kevin Phelan is encouraging people in need of help to come forward.
Samaritans are available 24 hours a day on their new freephone number 116-123, as well as via email on jo@samaratins.org.
Their centre on the Kilrush Road in Ennis is also generally open from 10am -10pm daily.
