A second NCT centre in Clare is set to become operational before the end of the year.
The facility, which will open at the Smithstown Industrial Estate in Shannon, will be in addition to the centre already in operation on the Quin Road in Ennis.
Clare Independent TD Michael McNamara has had the move confirmed in response to a parliamentary question, with construction already underway at the site.

It’s understood the National Car Testing Service has also been asked to review the possibility of opening another centre in Kilrush to accommodate motorists in West Clare in the future.
