Senator Says Clare People Should Not Be Concerned About Intercounty Travel

Clare’s Fianna Fail senator says people in this county should not be concerned about the potential of intercounty travel to increase COVID-19 rates here.

People can now freely travel between counties for the first time since October – though NPHET has recommended the ban is reimposed on Stephen’s Day, with Cabinet set to consider that advice today.

Clare has had one of the lowest incidence rates of coronavirus in the country for a number of weeks, with it currently standing at just 32 per 100,000 people after 9 new cases of the virus were confirmed here last night.

That’s the highest daily figure reported in this county since November 15th.

Senator Timmy Dooley believes the low rate of the disease here may change in the coming weeks.
