A Dutch man responsible for a bomb scare on board a plane diverted to Shannon Airport last January will be sentenced before the Circuit Court in Ennis today..
44 year old Jorge Flores has pleaded guilty to knowingly causing a false alarm by stating he had a bomb on board a Boeing 767 flight carrying 231 passengers from Amsterdam on January 13th last.
The bomb scare sparked a major security alert at Shannon airport that month when the captain of the plane operated by Dutch firm, Arkefly made an emergency landing.

A search of the flight by Shannon Gardai found no device and the Dutch holiday makers continued their journey to Aruba on a replacement aircraft several hours later
44 year old Flores has appeared in court a number of times since he was first remanded in custody over three months ago and broke down in tears- last week when he told the court he wanted to apologise.
Before sentencing today, Ennis Circuit Court is likely to hear medical evidence regarding Mr Flores anxiety issues, while Shannon Gardai and the captain of the aircraft are also expected to give evidence
