Ahead of tonight’s historic changeover for Shannon Airport, it’s business as usual as the post Christmas rush continues.
11.59pm tonight marks the formal changeover for Shannon Airport, though no official ceremonies are planned.
But passengers using the newly independent airport tomorrow will be welcomed with refreshments and a chance to win prizes, while management at Shannon are welcoming the arrival of a new year – and a new era – with optimism.
Niall Moloney is Head of Operations at Shannon Airport and says the slogans seen on banners across the airport over Christmas express their hopes for 2013.
The Slogan reads "Just think how far we can go", and Mr Moloney says it’s a positive motto for 2013 for Shannon Airport and the wider Mid-West Region.
