It’s reported that Shannon Airport is planning to announce passenger charge increases, in order to address financial difficulties.
Management at the Airport are planning to raise fees by one-eur-and-fifty-eight cent per passenger, bringnig it in line with other regional airports including Cork, knock and Aberdeen.
A spokesman for the airport says the move amounts to a ‘modest adjustment’, and adds that the increase is less than 20%.
it’s also been pointed out that this is the first such rise in six years.
The move comes after a 12% drop in passenger numbers last year, and a further fall this year following the withdrawal of many Ryanair routes from the MidWest airport.
