Shannon Airport Re-Opens

Shannon Airport has re-opened following an incident at the airport this morning.

Eyewitnesses say the Aer Lingus regional Aer Arann flight from Manchester made two attempts to land at Shannon Airport before crashing on the runway there at around 10:20 this morning.

It’s believed there was a problem with the aircraft’s nose-wheel.

21 passengers and four crew were on board at the time – nobody was injured.

Five units of the Clare fire service were dispatched to the scene; 3 from Shannon, and 2 from Ennis.

Those travelling from Clare’s County Town were stood down, while the units from Shannon have now returned to base.

Investigations have been launched while intending passengers have been urged to contact their airlines regarding any potential delays this evening.

The airport is expected to operate as normal tomorrow.
