Delegation To Attempt To Secure Meeting With Minister On Shannon Airport’s Future

A delegation of councillors from Clare and Limerick is to attempt to secure a meeting with the Transport Minister over their concerns for the future of Shannon Airport.

Shane Ross was due to visit Shannon by the end of last month but so far, no such visit has taken place, prompting councillors at last evening’s council meeting to revert to Plan B.

A number of lost flight routes this year, in a situation worsened by the problems with the Boeing 737 Max Aircraft, have led to serious concerns in Clare about the performance of the Midwest facility.

It’s hoped this cross-county approach will lead to some action being taken and Independent Sixmilebridge Councillor PJ Ryan fears that unless something changes, Shannon may no longer be the dominant airport in the west.
