The cabinet will today discuss the Transport Minister’s plans for the future of Shannon Airport.
It’s expected Leo Varadkar will recommend that Shannon breaks free from the Dublin Airport Authority, and be run on an independent basis.

Shannon Development will likely be incorporated into the body responsible for the running of the airport, a new board will be appointed
There are also proposals for the establishment a large-scale aviation-based services centre, which would be unique to Europe
