Gardai in Shannon are continuing to investigate the discovery of a pipe bomb in Shannon Town Centre at the weekend.
Army bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion on the viable device discovered in the Kincora apartments on Friday evening and forensic examinations are continuing.
Locals in the area expressed shock at news that the suspect device was a viable explosive, but Gardai expressed satisfaction that no one was hurt in the incident.

The security operation involving local emergency services and the army lasted over 5 hours and forced the evacuation of the 44 unit apartment building and the temporary closure of four neighbouring businesses.
