A Director of Shannon Chamber says the region’s main airport will continue to face challenges and require targeted government supports for a number of years.
Chambers across the Midwest and the Irish Hotels Federation are to submit a plan to Government which calls for, among other funding models, the State providing a fixed sum to the airport per passenger.
Such a support would allow Shannon to subsidise its airport charges for airlines such as Ryanair, Aer Lingus and others.

Past President and current chair of Shannon Chamber’s CEO Forum Kevin Thompstone says the airport will continue to have to overcome adversity for a long time to come.
