A church in Shannon has been seriously damaged by fire.
The blaze broke out at Christ Church in Drumgeeley last night and several units of the local fire brigade and Shannon Gardai attended the scene.
No body was injured in the incident and the blaze isn’t being treated as suspicious.
The church, which is located near the airport was built in the 60’s to accommodate the multi-denominational workforce at the Shannon Industrial Estate.
Its believed the damage is so extensive the building may need to be knocked down something.
Local Councillor Patricia McCarthy says the church was an integral part of the community for many years and will be very sad for people to realise the devastation.
