The Shannon based Coastguard Helicopter was involved in a major search for an elderly man from his Galway home.
The alarm was raised on Sunday evening by family members of the 88 year old who suffers from Alzheimer’s and was last seen in the Moycullen area.
A major search involving Gardai, members of Galway Mountain Rescue and local people was launched and continued through the night.

The Irish Coastguard helicopter from Shannon was called in yesterday morning and a heat seeking device on board was able to pin point the elderly man’s exact location shortly after 10 am.
He was airlifted to University Hospital Galway where his condition yesterday was described as ‘comfortable’.
