A drill manufactured by Shannon company Minchem was used in the operation to locate the men on Sunday- who has been trapped 700 metres below the surface for 17 days.

The men are said to be in good health but it could take several months to drill a rescue shaft large enough to rescue them.
Paddy Purcell, Founder and director of Minchem which employs 50 staff at its Shannon Base and a 100 worldwide says he was delighted to be able to play a part in the rescue effort
