The Mid-West’s main economic and tourism development agency has backed Limerick City calls for a boundary extension into Clare.
Shannon Development’s submission to the Limerick Local Government Committee calls for a joint governing body for Limerick City and County, but its also in favour of including the Clare Communities of Shannon Banks and Westbury in Limerick City.
Chief Executive, Vincent Cunnane says its very important that Limerick City regains its position as Ireland’s 3rd largest city and it needs an extended resource base to drive the future development of the Limerick / Shannon Gateway.

But Westbury Councillor Paschal Fitzgerald says that over 4000 residents in Shannon Banks and Westbury are being ignored.
