Over 400 new jobs were created in teh Shannon Free Zone last year while 28 new start up busineses got off the ground.
However Shannon Development’s annual report for 2011 also indicate there were over 170 net positions lost during the same 12 month period.

The figures also reveal that the Shannon Region was one of Irelands top performing in terms of tourism with 850 thousand overseas visitors recorded – an 11.7 percent hike on 2010.
While there was a 3 percent loss in employment over the year – CEO of Shannon Development Vincent Cunnane says there been a big growth in indigenous jobs.
