Shannon Father Says “Game-Changing” Drug Needs To Be Made Available By HSE

The Shannon father of a young girl with cystic fibrosis has said a new 'game-changing' drug needs to be made available by the HSE, regardless of its high cost.

Orkambi costs 160 thousand euro per year per patient, and newspaper reports have stated that the HSE have deemed it too expensive for the 600 people it would help in this country.

Cystic Fibrosis Ireland says this refusal is "offensive" and Kieran McCarthy, whose daughter Aoibhinn suffers from the condition, feels funding needs to be found.
