Three Shannon Gardaí who risked their lives to rescue a man from a house fire are being hailed as heroes.
They were first on the scene at around 2.50am this morning after receiving a call about a fire in the Kincora apartment complex.
Pat O’Gorman, Seamus Lyons and Finn O’Driscoll broke in to rescue the man while thick black smoke filled the property, before the fire brigade and ambulance arrived.

The man and the three officers were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene – and Superintendent Brendan McDonagh is commending their bravery:
