Gardai at Shannon are continuing to urge motorists to drive with caution on the N18 Ennis/Galway road following an oil spill on Friday which caused huge delays.
Extremely slippery conditions were reported on the road between Setright’s cross and the Sixmilebridge exit on Friday afternoon with a number of minor collisons as a result of what’s believed to have been oil from a truck leaked onto the road.

The route was closed for approximatly 8 hours with motorists reporting long delays as traffic was diverted through Cratloe and Sixmilebridge.
One lane of the carraigeway reopened late last night and it is hoped that the full route will be accessible later this afternoon with drivers asked to proceed with caution.
