Shannon Group has recorded a fourth consecutive year of growth.
All three of its companies; Shannon Airport, Shannon Heritage and Shannon Commercial Properties recorded a positive year in 2018.
Shannon Group’s activities support 46,500 jobs annually, so growth within the three companies has a knock on positive impact on the region’s economy.
According to its latest report, Shannon Airport enjoyed its best year this decade, with growth of 6.5% recorded in 2018, bringing total passenger numbers to over 1.86 million.
This means the midwest facility has seen growth of 33% since 2013, when it first became independent from the DAA.
Shannon Heritage, the largest commercial operator of day and night-time visitor attractions in Ireland recorded a 4.3% increase in visitor numbers to a record high of 925,000.
While, Shannon Commercial Properties completed the €40 million first-phase of its ongoing investment programme at Shannon Free Zone, while occupancy rates in its properties has now reached 94%, more than doubling the occupancy rates of 2013.
In a statement, CEO Matthew Thomas has welcomed the positive results, saying they are “set on an ambitious course” to “drive further growth in the years ahead”.
