Proposals to establish a global humanitarian hub at Shannon Airport have moved a step closer to becoming a reality.
The Foreign Affairs department has reportedly commissioned a study to determine the feasibility of setting up a centre in the Mid West where emergency food and medical supplies could be stored before they are transported rapidly to a disaster zone after a global emergency.
