An extra New York service from Shannon Airport is being hailed as a breakthrough, as other services face future doubts.
With Ryanair due to withdraw 75% of its Shannon services in the coming months, and the future of Aer Lingus Transatlantic services in doubt, Management at the airport say they’re encouraged by the addition of a new Continental service from May.
Continental will operate its second Newark service four days a week, bringing its total number of Shannon services to 11 per week in June, July and August.
Shannon Airport Director Martin Moroney says the Newark services provide a vital link to New York, but are more important for the US connectivity they provide to Shannon passengers.
