The new Mayor of Shannon has believes business in the Shannon Free Zone is turning a corner following what he described as the depression of the past two years.
Current Mayor of Clare Tony Mulcahy was unanimously elected as "meara baile" in Shannon last evening, making history in holding two chains of office, though he’ll be handing over his county honours at the Clare County Council AGM next week.
The mayoral chains were presented by outgoing Mayor Sean McLaughlin, while the role of leas cathaoirleach went to another Fine Gael member of Shannon Town Council, Councillor Mike Fleming.
Councillors complimented Tony Mulcahy’s strong leadership at a time when business has been decimated in some parts of industrial estates in Shannon, but the new Mayor told Clare FM that things are starting to look up
