Shannon Men Appear In Court Chraged With Bunratty Drugs Seizure

Two Shannon men have appeared in court, charged in connection with the seizure of almost 110,000 euro worth of drugs in Bunratty.

The men were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the county.

38-year-old Alan Dowie of Rossbracken, Shannon and 28-year-old Mark Hayes of Aidan Park, Shannon have both been charged with possession of the cannabis and possession of the drug with intent for sale or supply at Clonmoney West, Bunratty, after they were stopped there on Wednesday afternoon.

Five and a half kilos of Cannabis herb, which was packaged, was seized after Gardaí stopped and searched a van.

Ennis District Court today heard that Alan Dowie and Mark Hayes made no reply when charged.

Judge Patick Durcan granted bail, subject to a number of conditions, including that they reside at their current addresses, observe curfews, surrender their passports and that they sign twice weekly at Shannon Garda Station.

Judge Durcan remanded the men in custody with consent to bail to appear in court again on on Wednesday next.
