An increase in passenger departure charges at Shannon Airport is due to be implemented from today.
Passenger fees are set to increase by 1.58 cent bringing it to 6.32 – management at the airport have described the increase as ‘modest’ but ‘essential’
It is the first rise in these charges at Shannon Airport in six years.

Annual passenger numbers at the Co Clare airport dropped from 2.7 million last year, to an expected 1.7 million this year.
Ryanair has claimed that this increase, coupled with the ten euro travel tax, makes Shannon Airport uncompetitive as a gateway to the West of Ireland.
