The new customs and border protection facilities at Shannon Airport should be up and running by the end of July.
That’s according to the Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey who says he’s been told by the Shannon Airport Authority that the construction of the pre-clearance facility is due to be completed shortly, while the necessary government legislation is due to be passed by the Seanad this week.
In a response to Clare Fine Gael TD Pat Breen, Minister Dempsey said department officials are working closely with the US authorities on the final aspects of the operating procedures between the two administrations and he’s confident the issue will be finalised by the end of July.
