Shannon take dozens of diverted flights from big freeze

 

Over 60 flights have been diverted to Shannon since the cold snap began with thousands of passengers passing through the Mid west airport over the past two weeks.

Dublin Airport reopened this morning with efforts to clear the backlog of stranded passengers.

While Shannon is operating as normal, bar cancelled flights from other countries due to the ongoing cold snap, management is still urging intending passengers to check with their airline before arriving for their flight.

Meanwhile

Met Eireann has issued another severe weather warning  with icy conditions countrywide along with freezing fog will linger in places and snow showers in places.

In Clare roads in the west and south east of the county remain the most treacherous, particularly from Carrigaholt to Kilkee, Cree to Kilmihil and Killaloe to O’Briensbridge.

Several school bus runs into Kilmihil, Kilrush, Ennistymon, Kildysart, Lissycasey, Inagh, Kilfenora, Cranny, Burane, Drumdigus and Moy have been cancelled due to the icy conditions .

All Bus Eireann services are operating in Clare this morning with the following diversion;
 
Route 333 Doonbeg/Ennis The 7.45 service ex Doonbeg will not serve Corofin and Kilfenora
