ShannonDoc Says Demand Low Since Introduction Of Cutbacks

However, a statement on behalf of the GP co-op insists that demand for this has been low since the cutbacks were introduced, with only one such appointment at its Kilrush facility.

According to figures released by Shannondoc, there has been an average of less than four calls from patients in the Ennistymon/Kilrush/Miltown Malbay area on each weeknight over the past three weeks, with a slightly lower average again in the Killaloe area.

The group is also standing by its claims of a significant shortfall in doctors in West Clare, in spite of HSE figures which showed only a marginal drop in the number of GPs in Clare in the past six years.
