Shannon’s pre-clearance celebrations may be short-lived.

It’s claimed the cost to passengers at the Mid West airport will be significantly undercut by Dublin when it opens similar facilities at the end of next year.

Full custom and immigration services got off the ground at Shannon Airport yesterday and it’s expected to significantly boost passenger numbers and business by 20/12

However Fine Gael TD Pat Breen says the Office of the Aviation Regulator has confirmed the pre-clearance cost for passengers at Dublin will be much lower than Shannon due to a greater passenger number at the capital’s airport

Deputy Breen says that the Government need to ensure that the advantage is not lost for Shannon by its parent body undercutting the prices.
