Sharon Collins out of jail

Lying Eyes Sharon Collins has been released from prison.

The Ennis woman walked free from Mountjoy women’s prison yesterday in advance of her final release date this December, which will bring an official end to the sentence she received for hiring a hitman to kill her partner and his sons.

Sharon Collins always denied  soliciting a Las Vegas Poker dealer to kill Ennis Businessman PJ Howard, whom she lived with on the Kildysart Road, and his sons Robert and Niall, but was found guilty by a Jury following one of Ireland’s longest legal trials in 2008 and sentenced to 6 years in Prison.

The 49 year old mother of two visited her family in Ennis recently on short temporary release, but with concessions for good behaviour in prison her sentence will conclude in December, and yesterday she walked free from jail, three months ahead of the official expiry of her term in The Dochas Woman’s Centre in Mountjoy.

Sharon Collin’s solicitor has confirmed to Clare FM that her release is seen as a temporary  – but long term measure, as she’s unlikely to return to jail, and will officially be a free woman in December.

Ms. Collin’s location is being kept private for now, and she previously stated she’s unlikely to return to Ennis amid concerns about media intrusion and it’s effects on her family.
