Shock And Sadness Expressed Over Westbury Creche Closure

Shock, confusion and sadness has been expressed by both staff and parents at the Tic Toc's creche in Corbally.

The Westbury creche is one of three to close, Riverpoint in Limerick city centre and Newcastle West are also affected as a result of the business's loans being sold to an international vulture fund.

Hundreds of parents and forty staff only found out news of Tic Toc's closure last night and this morning.

The three creches, in Newcastle West, Westbury and Riverpoint in the city centre have closed with immediate effect, with parents forced to hastily organise alternative arrangements for their children.

A group of dismayed staff members and parents have gathered outside the Westbury premises this afternoon.

Sarah Kieran has three children attending Tic Toc and found out the news last night- she says there's a close bond between parents, children and staff.

Staff are still awaiting wages for last week and this week, as well as holiday pay, with those working at the Westbury creche refusing to leave until they recieve their pay.

Rachel Quinlivan, who calls her five years working at the creche the "best years of her life", is due to get married next week.

She's described the heartache of not being able to work.
