The ISPCC has called for greater action on child abuse after a Shannon man was jailed for subjecting a 10 month old baby to cruel and shocking injuries.
20 year old Larry Connors of Cronan Lawns, Shannon, pleaded guilty at Ennis Circuit Court to the offences against the child of his former partner which occured over a three-week period from December 2010.
The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children says the horrific case should serve as a reminder to people that abuse is still a current issue and not just an historical event.
