The community of Ardrahan is said to be in shock following the death of a pedestrian who died after being knocked down in the early hours of this morning.
The 66 year-old man, who is understood to be a resident of a local nursing home, was hit by the vehicle on the N18 shortly after half past 12.
A parked Garda car was also struck, injuring two officers who were standing outside but their injuries have been described as non-life threatening.
A man in his 40's who was driving the car was arrested at the scene – he was taken to Gort Garda Station but has since been released.
