Shock in Hurlers Cross following workplace death

The community of Hurlers Cross is in shock following a tragic accident in the village yesterday.

27 year old Christopher Lysaght from Finniterstown near Adare was electrocuted while cutting trees close to ESB powerlines at Clonmoney West near Shannon at around 12.30.

He had been working for a company contracted by ESB to undertake work on private property in the area.

Mr Lysaght, who was wearing all his safety harnesses, was working on top of a “large thick hedge” when the equipment he was using came in contact with a 20,000 volt overhead cable.

A post mortem is to be carried out at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick while Gardai in Shannon and the Health and Safety Authority are investigating.

Shannon Councillor PJ Ryan says the community are in shock
