Local representatives in West Clare say there is shock in area after Gardai uncovered a major cannabis cultivation operation.
Officers from Kilrush searched a house at Breaffa, Carrigaholt on the main road to Kilkee on Wednesday, and discovered 600 growing cannabis plants and evidence of in excess of 500 harvested plants.

Subject to analysis, it’s believed the drugs have a street value of almost half a million euro, though no arrests have been made.
Kilkee Fianna Fail Councillor Pat Keane has praised the Gardai for the discovery, which is one of their biggest hauls in recent years.
