Clare has witnessed a fall of 25 per cent in the number of medical cards being issued here in the last two years.
According to a report in the Irish Independent the banner is in the ten counties to have suffered a significant reduction.

In 2012 just under 3,500 cards were issued here however for 2014 only 2612 have been approved.
North Tipperary is worst affected with a drop of 52 per cent.
Yesterday members of the Oireachtaas Health Committee visited the centre in Dublin with responsibility for medical card issuing – the processing of which has been outsourced to a German company based in the capital.
