Clare students will today receive a stark reminder of the importance of road safety.
Secondary school students from across the county will attend a mock traffic accident at Ennis Fire Station, to see first-hand the efforts undertaken by emergency workers during such incidents.
The demonstration will be supplemented by additional efforts, including first-hand testimonials from people who have survived serious injury collisions, while in a separate event younger students are also being taught the importance of wearing seat-belts.
It’s all part of a multi-agency road safety initiative, with Clare County Council among those involved. The Council’s Road Safety Officer Barry Keating is hopeful it will make a difference.
